I’ve been learning lately

Of the merits of silence.

Inside words in, as Melody would say.

You see, I am the daughter of a brainstormer

And thus inherited my mother’s imagination.

I can’t control the ideas,

They flow freely with minds of their own.

But alas, not all ideas should be announced

Not all should be pursued.

Logic must take his place beside creativity

And reign her in at times.

This wisdom has approached me

And made a proposition;

I’m much obliged, and find I must accept.

So if you find my silence worrisome,

Fear not.

It is only prudent whispers

Come to change my open-door policy.

I have so much passion inside of me; it wells up and threatens to overflow and I don’t know what to do with it. Sometimes it feels like I am battling it for ownership of me. Music makes it worse; music helps me reign it in. I can focus it like a laser or let it run wild and conquer me.

I hope to win this battle.

Here I am, meeting You again

The middle of the night

When my heart is most awake

Heightened awareness

Emotions intensified

You speak,

I listen.

Music reaches deep

Images stir up longings

Without adventure, what have we?

You write stories

Better than I

The gravity of life

Hits me in art

You reach down deep

And pull on my heartstrings.

There is nothing left to say

You ask me just to be

So “be” I will

Silent and assured

Sitting at Your feet.

Emotions are potent

I best not let them win

But for a moment,

They may linger.

Music draws forth

Longing, forlorn

I sit in the puddle

Of art, of feeling.

You bring me back

With Your loving touch

Gentle words, and

Beautiful reminders.

A promise so great,

My heart may burst

Till then I wait

And look to You.

You came crashing in

To my world

My peaceful state disturbed.

You brought a smile to my face

And warmth to my core.

I took the opportunity:

I teased, I jested.

Soon though, you left,

And you took my contentedness.

Sadness moved in where you moved out

And though simple

I felt it

Deeply.

I know you’ll be back

If not tomorrow, then soon after

But till then I pray

I fast

I listen.

Till then I wait, prepare, and follow.

May God’s love reign over you today

May His peace guard your heart

May His voice guide your way.

I want color

Vibrant color!

I want harmonies

Mesmerizing harmonies!

I want words

Ravishing words!

Oh Art, just come with me

And spill some paint on this tired old world

Let’s run rampant through flower fields

And boggle the minds of those who look on

Oh, Art, let’s kiss them all goodbye

We’ll head for the seashore,

And make friends with the tides
